Since we deal with a multitude of food allergies I know that substituting ingredients in recipes, even allergy-friendly recipes like my gluten free coffee cake, is sometimes necessary. This gluten free coffee cake recipe comes with an extra special cream cheese glaze! That glaze combined with the touch of spices in the cake is going to give you major cinnamon roll vibes without all of the fuss of making a yeasted dough! Making Gluten Free Coffee Cake Substitutions I didn’t want just a standard powdered sugar glaze on my coffee cake, though. While not everyone uses them, many recipes do. If you love streusel as much as we do in our house you’re definitely going to need to bake a batch of this coffee cake! It Has a Special Glaze Have you ever had a crumb cake? That stuff is amazing! Why? Because there is enough streusel to bury a mansion! While my gluten free coffee cake recipe doesn’t have quite that much streusel, it has a wonderfully heavy crumb topping. The way I made this recipe it’s free from gluten as well as dairy, eggs, soy, and rice! Not very many coffee cake recipes can boast about being both amazingly delicious and that allergy-friendly! It Has a Heavy Crumb Topping If you’ve been around here very long you know that not only are my recipes gluten free, they’re usually pretty allergy-friendly. So, what makes gluten free coffee cake recipe so special? There are a few things that make it extra amazing. Each one is as unique as the person who created it. There are hundreds of coffee cake recipes out there. Now your family can cheer and applaud when you bake up a batch of this delicious coffee cake because I have the recipe ready to share with you! My family just loves it so much that everyone gets excited. ![]() It’s a big deal in my house when I bring out this gluten free coffee cake recipe! Not because it’s hard to make and reserved for special occasions. Remove from oven and let cool.“COFFEE CAKE!?! Make two!” That was my son’s response when I told him I was going to be making a batch. Now break apart your dough (topping) as much as you can and Sprinkle it on your cake batter. Transfer batter to a lightly greased pan, preferably 8x8. ![]() Once combined, add your egg, your yolk, vanilla extract and buttermilk. Now take your butter and 1 tabkespoon at a time, mix into your flour. Mix your flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Set aside and let it get to room temperature - 20-30 min. Mix together then add cinnamon, salt and melted butter. I personally love a softer crumb topping, but this was good! Per the instructions For the Crumb topping -1/2 cup (73 g) of dark brown sugar -1/4 cup (67 g) of white sugar (you can do all brown as well) -3/4 tspn of cinnamom -1/8 tspn of salt -1/2 cup (114 g) butter, melted 1.5 cups (219 g) of cake flour For the Cake -1.25 cups (156 g) cake flour -Half cup (100 g) sugar -1/4 tspn of baking soda -1/4 tspn of salt -6 tblspns of butter -1 egg -1 yolk -1 tspn of vanilla extract -1/3 cup (80 g) buttermilk Powdered sugar for topping (optional) Caramel for topping (optional) Start with sugar(s) for topping.
